What will your child do?
Listening to a story, reading its words and writing about it are different tasks. Name the task before choosing a book, worksheet or digital tool.
Where should you start?
Try a short activity and watch where help is needed. Separate unfamiliar language from unfamiliar instructions. A resource level is a starting point for choosing work, not a diagnosis or a complete assessment.
What does the tool add?
Paper can hold a drawing and labels. Audio can hold a spoken description. Choose the format that serves the task and that your family can use comfortably.
Where does the guidance come from?
We use educational publishers and language-education organisations for definitions and descriptions of their resources. Sources are linked beside the relevant explanation. Original activity examples are presented as suggestions. Start with choosing a free English resource.
